Sir CC Onye-eze has emphasized the importance of a free and fair conduct in the Anambra Local Government elections. – Onye-eze Humanitarian Foundation

Sir CC Onye-eze has emphasized the importance of a free and fair conduct in the Anambra Local Government elections.

As Anambra State commences its highly anticipated Local Government elections today, Sir CC Onye-eze, a prominent humanitarian and public affairs commentator, has issued a resounding call for transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to democratic principles.

Onye-eze emphasized the importance of conducting a credible election, warning against actions that could lead to disenfranchisement of the electorate, resulting in unrest and multiple litigations. He stressed that partisan politics, when conducted in line with democratic ideals, serves as a critical vehicle for true democracy.

Onye-eze urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to uphold the principles enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution, ensuring the elections are conducted in accordance with constitutional provisions.

He also highlighted the need for adequate security arrangements, particularly in high-risk areas prone to electoral violence or manipulation. Onye-eze called on security agencies to collaborate closely with electoral bodies to safeguard the integrity of the polls.

His appeal resonates with many Anambra citizens eager for a transparent process that reflects their choices, serving as a reminder that the essence of democracy lies in the participation of the people.
